There are several signs to be mindful of and report to your doctor. There may be no early signs of this condition other than difficulty with reading or seeing things from far away. Signs and symptoms appear as the condition progresses, and include:
- Seeing floaters or streaks that resemble cobwebs
- Having blurred vision
- Colors may appear faded or washed out
- Having dark or blank or empty areas in your vision
- Losing your vision
Do You Have Diabetic Retinopathy?
Report changes in your vision to your doctor immediately. The doctor checks for diabetic retinopathy when doing a dilated eye exam, or other diagnostic tests.
Follow the treatment plan provided by the doctor. Keep your blood sugar under control to help to reduce your chances of having the signs of diabetic retinopathy.
