Unfortunately, type 2 diabetes is becoming more common in children. The good news is that by addressing the warning signs as early as possible, you can keep your child healthy. Here are some signs to watch for and to ask your child’s pediatrician about:
- Thirstier than usual. You may notice the milk, water, and juice disappearing from the fridge or your child drinking from the faucet.
- Frequent trips to the bathroom. Your child’s teachers might even mention it.
- A severe lack of energy. Signs include difficulty keeping up with peers, tiring easily, including when climbing stairs, and sleepiness.
