There are many foods that people should avoid when they have diabetes. These eight foods are especially bad, so avoid them at all costs.
Bakery Sweets
Avoid bakery sweets when you have diabetes. One bakery cookie has around 60 grams of carbs. One glazed donut or iced cupcake has more than 30 grams of carbohydrates.
Sausage Biscuits and Gravy
Sausage biscuits and gravy seem like a filling breakfast. The downside is that when prepared with just one biscuit, it contains nearly 45 grams of carbs.
Soda
Sugary soda is a bad choice for individuals who have diabetics. Diet soda is not a good choice because artificial sweeteners may increase the desire to eat sugary foods.
Pasta
Pasta is an unhealthy food choice. One serving of pasta with no sauce has approximately 35 grams of carbohydrates. Adding spaghetti sauce or cream sauce quickly increases the total carbs.
French Fries
Avoid French fries at all costs. They have over 50 grams of carbs per serving. The carbs in French fries go even higher when ketchup, cheese or chili tops the fries.
Fast Food
Avoid fast food to help control your intake of carbohydrates. Hamburgers are unhealthy enough, but fast-food salads can be unhealthy since they often contain dried fruits or creamy dressings.
White Bread
White bread significantly increases blood sugar levels in individuals who have both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Avoid any breads made with white flour, which is low in fiber.
Canned and Processed Fruit
Do not eat canned fruits or processed fruits like applesauce. These fruits often lead to a rapid increase in blood sugar levels.
