Staying motivated when you have diabetes can be a difficult task. Perhaps you feel that you do not see major movement in your goals. Learn about seven ways that help you to stay motivated in managing your diabetes.
Set milestone goals. Creating several small goals on the way to a larger goal helps your larger goal feel more attainable and closer, compared to setting only large goals.
Reward yourself for achieving goals. Choose rewards for achieving both small and large goals, just as long as the reward does not include eating a carton of ice cream or a package of double fudge cookies.
Find a partner to help you stay motivated in your journey. The right person can inspire you and motivate you when you cannot find it within yourself to stay motivated to achieve your goals.
Attend support groups and meetings. The meetings are common because they work for many people.
Track your progress. Stay on top of your progress. Measure your results so that you can actually see the progress that you make along the way.
Celebrate small successes. Learn to celebrate the little things instead of focusing on how far you still must go.
Allow yourself grace. Forgive yourself for making mistakes or falling short of achieving your goal. Get back on track and look towards the future.
